Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA)

Who is it for?

This course is primarily designed for individuals working within the health and social care sector. It can tailored to meet the requirements of other sectors and working environments. It’s main purpose is to teach individuals the safe and appropriate manner to engage in physical interventions/Restraint, to keep themselves and others safe.

What Will You Learn?

You will learn a variety of physical intervention techniques, both low level and high level. The physical techniques run alongside robust theory sessions emphasising on justification, working within the law and adopting a hands on as an extreme last resort only.

  • De-escalation and disengagement on the floor

  • Managing someone in the prone position (on their front)

  • Seclusion techniques

  • UKPOD techniques

  • NG feed techniques

Bespoke Requirements?

This course can also be tailored or bespoke to meet the needs of your service or service users.

For example: some services may only need lower level techniques such as standing holds & seated de-escalation with no floor work. Other organisations may only need seated de-escalation and prone floor work etc.

As a Registered Mental Health Nurse and General Services PMVA Tutor, he has delivered over 2,000 hours of training across the UK. Jordan's hands-on experience and dedication to creating a supportive learning environment ensure that all learners are well-prepared for their roles.

All Evolve PMVA tutors are Grade A certified GSA PMVA instructors. Our rigorous training standards include a three-week intensive GSA Tutors Course, annual refresher training, and certifications in Emergency First Aid at Work.
